LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society cares for thousands of unwanted animals each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens, including those pictured.

On Oct. 26, Emily Day of Auburn, at right, presented GAHS with the donations from her ninth birthday. Emily is a third-grade student at Sherwood Heights Elementary School. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats and toys. With Emily is Ava Kimball.
On Oct. 29, Emily Farrington of Auburn presented the donations from her 13th birthday. Emily, a seventh-grade student at Auburn Middle School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts.
On Oct. 31, Madison Lee of New Gloucester presented GAHS with the donations from her 12th birthday. Madison is a sixth-grade student at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School. Party guests donated $50 and treats. With Madison is Operations Manager Zachary Black.
