State Police said the boy, 16, lost control of the car he was driving at the crest of a hill on High Street. The vehicle struck and snapped a utility pole before rolling over several times and landing right-side-up.
The force of the impact ripped the engine free from the car and demolished the front end.
Gardiner Rescue examined the driver at the scene, who sustained minor injuries.
Troopers Seth Allen and Eric Verhille are investigating the crash. They said speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, and that charges may be forthcoming. The boy was released to his family.
