The Boston Red Sox are apparently stocking their cupboards full of infielders as Thanksgiving approaches.

A person with knowledge of the deal told the Associated Press on Monday that free agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval and the Red Sox have agreed to a multiyear contract.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Red Sox had not announced the agreement.

In a separate report that surfaced late Sunday night, the Red Sox also appear to be on the cusp of signing free agent shortstop/outfielder Hanley Ramirez, a former Boston farmhand who played for the Portland Sea Dogs. Fox Sports first reported the Ramirez deal.

Sandoval, the 2012 World Series MVP with San Francisco, was pondering an offer from the Giants worth about $95 million over five years, two people with knowledge of that offer said, also speaking on condition of anonymity because no deal had been announced.

Sandoval met with the Red Sox last week. After winning his third World Series title in five years with San Francisco, he indicated he wanted to retire with the Giants.

CBS Sports first reported that agreement.

According to ESPN, Ramirez will agree to a four-year, $88 million deal with a vesting fifth year for an additional $22 million. ESPN also reported Ramirez, the 2009 National League batting champion, rejected a $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing him to become a free agent.
