HARTFORD — Selectmen voted Thursday night to get prices for video cameras for the sand and salt shed, after receiving reports of people stealing the materials and using the contractor’s loader to fill their pickup trucks.
The board also asked Town Clerk Lianne Bedard to get prices for installing a phone line so the images could be monitored on the town computer.
Also Thursday, the board had a lengthy discussion with Road Committee Chairman Harley Swanson on whether the price of the sand included hauling, and what trucks were used and whether they were rented.
Bedard said the contractor’s trucks were used.
In another matter, resident Elizabeth Garcia-O’Keefe, who walks frequently on the old railroad bed, asked why the town is clearing an 18-foot-wide swath there. She said she was concerned the birch trees would be cut.
The board agreed to check with the road commissioner.
The board also approved funds to have the Union Schoolhouse chimney cleaned. The building houses a clothing center.
