BUCKFIELD — Selectmen have scheduled a public hearing for a special amusement permit for Captain Bly’s Tavern for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2.
In other business Tuesday night:
* The board voted to have the department heads and chairmen of each board and committee attend the Jan. 6 Board of Selectmen meeting and present a six-month activity report. Chairwoman Martha Catevenis said the board receives minutes from the committees and she didn’t see the value of such reports. Selectman Cheryl Coffman noted that she had not seen minutes of some committees in months and thought the six-month report was a good idea. The motion passed 2-1.
* The front steps of the Zadoc Long Free Library will close because they are not safe; patrons can use the side entrance. The Library Corp. is seeking to file for nonprofit status, which hopefully will make them eligible to apply for grants.
* Janet Iveson was appointed to the Community Day Committee for a two-year term.
Iveson said in her application that she was sorry the town didn’t have a Community Day this year, and it was missed by many residents. Catevenis said she was glad to see people stepping up to serve on this committee.
