NORWAY — Local artist and sculptor William Janelle from Bridgton, Maine, will be the guest artist at the Community Gallery Space, Café Nomad, 450 Main Street, from Dec. 2, 2014- Jan. 30, 2015. This show will be a representation of wall hanging wood carvings.
Janelle is a self-taught sculptor who works primarily in wood and stone. His wood preferences are apple, cherry, butternut and walnut as they have distinctive grains and colors. The artist’s style is a blend of realism and neo-classicalism.
Janelle has been carving for more than 30 years and won over 100 ribbons in shows and competitions. He has been featured on television in Doug Rafferty’s “Doug’s Discoveries,” newspaper features, invitational exhibits, McLaughlin Garden’s “Art in the Barn,” Wildfowl Carving and Collecting Magazine and Lake Living Magazine.
