GORHAM —

The concert will include the Southern Maine Youth Chorale, conducted by Rebecca Green, and the Southern Maine Children’s Choir, conducted by Paul McGovern.

The SMCC is comprised of singers in grades four and up, and the SMYC includes singers in grades seven through 12. The groups will each perform individually, and together they will sing Rollo Dilworth’s “Take Me to the Water,” conducted by Green.

“This is a rollicking Gospel-style composition,” said McGovern, “It includes quotes from two African-American spirituals: ‘Down by the Riverside’ and ‘Wade in the Water.’”

The SMCC will perform “Gloria” by David Giardimiere; “Hitori,” a Japanese folk song; “All the Pretty Little Horses,” Earlene Rentz’s haunting arrangement of the whimsical American lullaby; “I Gave My Love a Cherry,” a traditional English folk song; “The Tailor and the Mouse,” arranged by Dave and Jean Perry; and “The Beautiful Rain,” a charming composition by Janet Gardner, setting a text by Portland’s most famous poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

The SMYC will perform “Yonder Come Day”; “O Holy Night,” arranged by Kirby Shaw; “Night of Silence” by Daniel Kantor; “Gate, Gate” by Brian Tate; “Calling My Children Home,” arranged Joseph Jennings; and “900 Miles,” arranged by Philip Silvey.

Donations will be accepted at the door.
