JAY – State Rep. Paul Gilbert, D-Jay, was elected Nov. 4 to serve his fourth term in the House of Representatives.

He is currently serving House District 87. Next year, he will begin serving District 74, which covers the towns of Jay, Livermore Falls and part of Livermore. In its first regular session in 2013, the 126th Maine Legislature passed a law establishing the apportionment of the state Senate and House of Representatives districts. It goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2015.

“I appreciate the trust that people have in me by re-electing me to my fourth term as their representative in the Maine Legislature,” Gilbert said. “I am looking forward to a session where we put politics behind us and work together for the good of Maine people. Our citizens do not want gridlock. They want government to work.”

Gilbert promises to continue to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle and consider each idea on its own merits, he said.

“As a lawmaker, my goals have always been improving the situation of working families, increasing opportunity for our young people and making sure our elders can age in dignity and security,” Gilbert said. “That has never changed and never will. I hope that we, as a Legislature, can find common ground in these areas and others to improve the lives of Maine people.”
