SUMNER — Selectmen on Tuesday evening requested board member Wally Litchfield draft a proposal to allow plowing contractor Lucas Enterprises to use the fuel tanks at the sand and salt pile off Route 219.

The proposal will be presented at the next selectmen meeting.

The contract was amended to stipulate use of three-eighths-inch gravel, which Litchfield said Lucas had delivered.

Walter Jasniewski presented information from Maine law that indicates the state may help with half of the cost of new bridges. Bids for a culvert on Redding Road will be taken in December and information will be on the town website.

Board of Selectmen Chairman Kelly Stewart asked Jasniewski to give a copy of the information to the Road Committee and have it report to the board on their interpretation of the law.

Modifications to a Pleasant Pond house owned by Frank Shaskan was brought before the board again by the Code Enforcement Office Sid Abbott because no notification of changes had been received by the Planning Board, as required for buildings in the shoreland zone.

Fire Chief Bob Stewart said the Fire Department said grants have been provided to get several radios reprogrammed, saving about $1,000.
