LOCKE MILLS — The November meeting of the Oxford County Educators Association-Retired will be held at the Locke Mills Legion Hall on Friday, Nov. 21.

Sign-in and socialization begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the business meeting, a dinner served by the American Legion Auxiliary and a program presented by Ted Gerber, president of the Waterford Historical Society. Gerber has been associated with the Boston Firemen’s Historical Society and collects firemen’s hats as a hobby.

Marjorie Nihan of Waterford arranged for Gerber to be the featured guest for the November meeting, which is the last meeting of this year. OCEA-R will meet again in March to start another year of activities, service to the community and opportunities to learn.

The annual scholarship raffle will be completed at the November meeting, so all donations need to be handed in on arrival. The other scholarship fundraiser was a pie sale in October, which was very successful thanks to the hard work of those who volunteered to help. OCEA-R annually provides several $500 scholarships to Oxford County seniors continuing their education. The scholarships are paid after the students successfully complete their first semester.

The fundraiser for the November meeting will be a silent auction. Any person who is retired, lives in the area and who worked in any capacity for a school system is invited to attend.
