During the past few years, Auburn has had several new businesses open up — Ruby Tuesday, Heidi’s Deli, Buffalo Wings, Longhorn and the Norway Savings Bank Ice Arena, to name a few.

In the 2009-2010 tax year, the tax rate for Auburn residents was $18.31 per thousand dollars; in 2011-2012, it rose to $19.39; in 2013-2014, it was $20.43; and now, for 2014-2015, it is $20.95.

Why are Auburn residents not seeing any tax relief?

Are all the new businesses getting tax increment financing in order for them to open? There are all those new businesses, and the restaurants are always busy, so there should be some revenue there. But Auburn tax rates keep increasing.

Auburn residents need some tax relief.
