BETHEL — Chairman Stan Howe said Thursday that the Board of Selectmen will vote to appoint a new town manager at its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Town Office.
The search for a new manager began in June, after James Doar left the position to become administrator for Gallatin County, Montana.
Since June, Steve Eldridge, former town manager of Rumford and Lisbon, has filled the position on an interim basis.
Howe said the town has a policy that the town must choose a successor within six months of the position becoming open.
“The deadline is approaching, but the board does have a candidate that we’re going to vote on Monday,” Howe said. “We’re still working out contract stuff right now.”
While Howe declined to name the candidate, he said she would be available to begin a week after the vote.
Selectmen will also discuss an issue related to parking and signage Monday.
Eldridge said some residents have been complaining about some signs in the town being closer to the ground than others, which makes them hard to see when people park in front of them.
“There are some that want us to consider not allowing people to park in front of those signs, so I put the item on the agenda for discussion,” Eldridge said.
Frank DelDuca of the Crossroads Diner in Bethel will also be at Monday’s meeting to discuss a sewer billing issue.
“He asked to be put on the agenda to talk about an increase in sewerage that he experienced at his diner,” Eldridge said. “There was an increase because he added more seats in his diner, and he’s saying that he didn’t add enough seats to warrant an increase.”
Other items on the agenda include:
* Discussion on Central Maine Power pole permit
* Discussion on sewer billing
* Discussion on the veterans park
* Appointments to the Airport Authority
