WILTON — A Wilton man faces a domestic violence assault charge after a woman claimed he intentionally stabbed her in the neck with a hypodermic needle Sunday night.

Police say the woman believes and claims the needle contained a drug.

David Engler, 31, turned himself in to Police Chief Heidi Wilcox on Tuesday morning after she wrote a warrant for his arrest Monday.

Engler left the Fernwold Apartment on Route 2 after the incident, which occurred around 9:45 p.m. Sunday.

Cpl. Nate Bean of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and his canine, Diesel, were called in to try tracking him. They didn’t find him, Wilcox said.

Engler also faces a charge of domestic violence criminal mischief for the property damage done to the apartment, she said.
