KINGFIELD — From 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, Meriwether O’Connor will perform her humorous tall tales and short stories from Joe Potato’s “Real Life Recipes” at High Peaks Artisan Guild, 245 Main St. during the Kingfield Artwalk.
Known for the dark humor of her Appalachia- and Texas-based tales and stories, O’Connor will read from her book and chat with visitors.
O’Connor is just back from an unconventional book tour in the South where she interviewed people she met along the way for the national rural website, The Daily Yonder. “We decided it would be fun to see what I could trade the book for on the trip,” O’Connor said. “Besides people’s life stories, which I loved hearing, I traded for everything from a phone charger, to bratwurst, to help with my luggage, to directions. I got to meet the audience in a whole new way.”
Books for signing may be purchased at the gallery that day or bought from Amazon beforehand. To learn more, visit www.highpeaksartisanguild.com.
