John Cleveland has been getting a bad rap from a targeted campaign of letters to the Sun Journal. The letters have unjustly attacked both his character and accomplishments. As a Poland resident of 30 years, I have known him to be a man of integrity and hard work.

He has dedicated much of his professional life to public service, as mayor of Auburn and in the Maine Senate. Last year, he chaired the Energy Committee and successfully championed an important energy bill that was one of the few to gather enough bipartisan support to survive a veto.

I am sure his opponent is a nice young man who has knocked on a lot of doors, but I will be voting for John Cleveland because Poland needs a Senator with experience and a proven record of getting things done in Augusta.
