Clothing, shoe sale at Thrifty Gift Shop

PARIS — A clothing and shoe sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 30-31, at the Thrifty Gift Shop, 659 Park St.

Items include like-new or gently used winter clothing and jeans for infants to adults.

Proceeds benefit the Families in Crisis Task Force.

A food pantry will also be held for anyone in need.

‘Early bird’ breakfast on Nov. 1

FARMINGTON — An “early bird” breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Academy Street.

The menu consists of bacon, eggs, muffins, fruit, breakfast casseroles, home fries, doughnuts, coffee and juice.

Cost is $6. Ages 5 and under are free.

Bethel Senior Citizens Club

LOCKE MILLS — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall.

Dinner cost is $10.

Hunters breakfast at fish, game clubhouse

OXFORD — A hunters breakfast will be held from 4:30 to 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Lake Thompson Fish and Game Clubhouse, Paine Road.

The menu consists of pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, baked beans, home fries, toast, juice and coffee.

Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

Turkey dinner at Deering Memorial

PARIS — A roast turkey dinner with all the fixin’s and homemade pies will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

There is ample parking behind the library and town office.

Craft fair at Maine Veterans Home

PARIS — A craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St.

Refreshments will be available.

Rumford Lodge seeking new members

RUMFORD — If you’re interested in your heritage and like Italian food and fun, give the The Sons of Italy lodge a chance to fulfill your desires. You don’t have to be Italian. Dues are $35 per year; you can make payments if you need.

Rumford and surrounding towns have the rich history of immigrants from other countries around the world. They brought back many talents when they came here in order to escape dictators, oppressive governments and religious persecutors.

Over time, traditions our grandparents passed on to us as children seemed to get lost.

In these modern times, with all of our high-tech gadgets that rule our lives, we tend to forget all the work and sacrifices they made for us in order to have a good life. This is why we join clubs or organizations, we try to keep those traditions alive.
