AUBURN — City Manager Clinton Deschene will lead a discussion about the City Council’s to-do list and the steps they will need to take to replace him at a special workshop meeting Monday.

Deschene said the meeting begins with an icebreaker discussion at 6 p.m.

“It’s just a short thing we’ll do to get everybody talking,” Deschene said.

Deschene announced earlier this month that he will step down Nov. 15, taking the position of business manager at Presque Isle’s School Administrative District 1.

Assistant City Manager Howard Kroll will take over as interim city manager when Deschene leaves.

Deschene said he will ask councilors to write down a suggestion aimed at improving City Council-city manager processes.

“I’m going to do a quick 15-minute presentation,” Deschene said. “We’ll lead into that question, and then we’ll get right into the rest of the meeting.”

The rest of the meeting includes a review of City Council policy matters and a discussion about governance, City Council roles and expectations for the next city manager.

“It’s all about the council’s roles, the manager’s role and the mayor,” Deschene said.
