PORTLAND (AP) — The deadline for requesting absentee ballots for Maine’s election is fast approaching.

The deadline for most voters is Thursday. Election officials say Mainers can request a ballot until the close of business by going online, calling or visiting their town office.

Voters can return the ballots to their municipal clerk until the polls close on Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Mainers who can demonstrate an extenuating circumstance like illness or last-minute travel may still be able to receive an absentee ballot after Thursday’s deadline.
