JAY — A Wilton man suffered facial injuries early Friday when his vehicle went off Route 4 and into a ditch near Carousel Crafts in North Jay, acting police Chief Richard Caton IV said.
Sgt. Troy Young arrested the driver, Alex Nichols, 22, on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol, Caton said.
Nichols refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash reported at 1:44 a.m.
Young took Nichols to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to have his injuries checked out, Caton said.
Once Nichols was cleared, he was taken to the Franklin County jail, Caton said.
Nichols was released on $3,000 unsecured bail, a corrections officer said. He is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Dec. 2.
