WATERVILLE (AP) — A group of Maine railroad enthusiasts wants to get an old steam locomotive up and running after it sat dormant for 60 years.

WABI-TV (http://bit.ly/1s3c79J ) reported Maine Central locomotive #470 was built in 1924 and made its last run in June 1954. New England Steam Corporation of Winterport recently bought the locomotive from the city of Waterville and is prepping it for a move to Ellsworth.

Work will take place in Ellsworth to restore the locomotive. The project of moving and restoring the locomotive will cost more than $1 million. A spokesman for the New England Steam Corporation says the group is in the midst of fundraising for the effort.
