SCARBOROUGH — Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will campaign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud on Friday at Scarborough High School, 11 Municipal Drive, according to information posted on Michaud’s campaign website.
“There is so much at stake in this election, and we can’t take anything for granted,” Michaud said Sunday in an email announcing the event. “If we want change in Augusta, we have to make it happen.
“That’s why I am so humbled and excited to have Hillary Clinton coming to Maine to rally voters and join me in energizing supporters so we can ensure a great turnout on Election Day,” he said.
Clinton, who made an appearance last week in Kentucky with Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes, is one of many national figures to campaign with Michaud, the press release said. President Barack Obama is due to appear for Michaud in Portland on Oct. 30.
Earlier this fall, former President Bill Clinton and first lady Michelle Obama have campaigned for him.
The doors for the free event will open at 4:30 p.m. Friday. An online RSVP is required for those attending. For information, visit michaud2014.com/hillary.
No physical tickets will be issued, according to information on Michaud’s website. Attendees, who must show valid photo identification for admittance, will be checked in on a guest list.
Those attending may bring cellphones and small cameras, but no large bags or signs will be allowed, according to Michaud’s website. Attendees will be subject to security checks.
