Triple Threat sweeps
The Triple Threat seventh grade Fall Basketball team, based out of Lewiston, swept both of its games this past weekend, improving to 6-1 for the season.
Game 1 featured a rematch with Central Maine Hoops. Threat’s swarming defense frustrated Hoops and great ball movement on offense helped Threat win, 40-19. Jordyn Rubin led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Laila Bunnitt (6), Maddy Foster(5) and Cece Racine(4). Bunnitt led the defense with eight rebounds, Mia-Angelina Leslie and Sarah Greaton each had a pair of rebounds and a block.
Becca Zimmerman and Peyton Gaudette rounded out the defensive effort.
Hoops were led by Alley and Lewis with 6 points apiece. In the second game, Threat faced an eighth grade team from Lisbon. Despite being outsized, Threat again used its conditioning and tenacious defense to wear down the Lisbon team to earn a 29-18 victory. The scoring was spread out with 6 points each from Rubin, Foster, Bunnitt and Racine (5) and Leslie (4). Rebound leaders were Bunnitt (7), Greaton (5), Gaudette (2), and Zimmerman (2). Triple Threat is coached by Chuck Cullins.
