Jada Collins, an eighth-grader at Oak Hill Middle School, shucks an ear of corn in a field at Jillson’s Farm in Sabattus on Friday. The corn from this field will to be dried and used as chicken feed. Jada and the rest of the school were taking part in the annual Day of Caring, in which students and teachers participate in numerous public service and community projects throughout the area. In addition to helping out at farms, students did yard work, cleaned up cemeteries and canvassed for trash along the roads, among other things to “give back to the community.”
