RUMFORD — Selectmen will hold a public hearing on general assistance ordinance amendments at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Rumford Falls Auditorium.

Agenda items include a request from Stephen Shearer for redeeming his former property at 16 Free St.; an update from the Charter Commission and submission of its preliminary report; and approval to extend the appointments of appointed members of the commission.

New business includes approval general assistance ordinance amendments; approval of a police officer; a request from the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles to add three parking spaces on Cumberland Street; approval of the fuel bid for 2014; and a request from the registrar of voters to eliminate nighttime hours.

An executive session is scheduled for an economic development matter.
