Many people are largely unaware of the probate court, and know little of what is done there. I was recently given the privilege of learning about both first-hand, here in Androscoggin County.
In May, I was appointed to fill the vacancy of register of probate and have been working closely with Judge Michael Dubois in that capacity.
Matters dealt with in probate court can include the loss of a loved one, caring for an aging or disabled family member, the welfare of minor children and adopting a child. These matters need to be handled with sensitivity and with an understanding of probate and family law in Maine.
I am impressed with Dubois’ knowledge, his manner in dealing with difficult cases and, more importantly, his concern for the people who have their matters addressed in his court.
I heartily support the re-election of Judge Michael Dubois as judge of probate.
