FARMINGTON — Local police said a Livermore Falls woman was charged Thursday with stealing items from Wal-Mart, partly by using a recent receipt to get money for the merchandise.
Luanne Jones-Stiles, 60, of Livermore Falls was given a summons on charges of theft by unauthorized taking and theft by deception, Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
Farmington Sgt. Michael Adcock was called to Wal-Mart at approximately 8 p.m. after store security watched Jones-Stiles for about four hours, according to his report.
Apparently Jones-Stiles brought in a recent receipt, picked up the items listed on it and took them to customer service to get money for them, Pomeroy said.
The report said she picked up a variety of items, including purses, scarves, health and beauty products and ice cream, and left the store without paying for them, Pomeroy said. The value of the items was approximately $161.
Jones-Stiles is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 4.
