This is in response to Dolores Hoeh’s letter, “Where was the coverage?” (Sept. 29), berating the Sun Journal for its lack of coverage of the People’s Climate March in New York City and other locations. She wrote, “I cannot imagine why the Sun Journal neglected to give the march some first-class coverage. Shame on you.”
Shame on the Sun Journal? Really?
Thousands of those participants rode in on diesel-fuming buses and then polluted the city by leaving behind tons of their own non-biodegradable trash in their wake. The litter was grossly present everywhere, not just in trash cans, but on the sidewalks, streets, benches, on the tops of mailboxes, etc.
Did any of these Mother Earth lovers return to clean their mess up? Of course not; the city was left to deal with it. Talk about hypocrisy. Maybe that’s one reason why the Sun Journal had the wisdom to pass that one up.
So politicians and luminaries were there. Big whoop.
By the way, as the Arctic region is losing some ice, the Antarctic region is gaining some. Let’s call that a climate shift from cycles of natural causes, because that’s what it is.
The foolishness of the march was eclipsed only by the ubiquitous garbage, which left behind a bigger message than what any clever sloganeer could come up with for their protest signs.
“Shame on you,” Sun Journal? No, kudos, instead; and shame on the double standard Earth-trashers.
Let’s put the disgrace right where it belongs.
