RUMFORD — The Rumford Falls Eagles will host a spaghetti supper and dance Friday, Oct. 3, to benefit a longtime member and volunteer recently diagnosed with cancer.
The supper and dance is in honor of Linda Bulger Gaskill, who was diagnosed in May with lung, brain and liver cancer.
Carolyn Perry, one of Gaskill’s friends, said Gaskill has been a member of the Rumford Eagles since 1996 and has worked at the Rumford Community Home for the past 20 years.
“Linda has worked in the community a lot over the years and knows a lot of people,” Perry said. “The response to this has been great. I’ve had a lot of people saying that they want to donate something, or want to help out in some way with the event. I’ve been trying to find something to do for everyone who wants to volunteer.”
Gaskill began treatment immediately after being diagnosed, and Perry said the money raised from the benefit will go toward her medical bills.
The supper, organized by Perry and her friend, Crystal Touchette, is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, followed by the dance from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost is $7.
Music will be provided by Noel Palmer. There will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle, Perry said.
For more information or to donate, call Perry at 357-5983 or Touchette at 369-9760.
