Foraging for health and nutrition
MERCER — The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will hold an informative field session of foraging with forage experts Lizzy Hayes and Geoff Nosach of Mercer at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at 122 Corson Road in Mercer, off the Rome Road.
Not only will they identify seasonally growing mushrooms, but they will also help identify wild herbs and plants that can benefit our health and nutrition out in the forest or fields.
Dress for the outdoors. Coffee and muffins will be provided.
There is no need to preregister and all are welcome.

Dance Oct. 4 at Farmington Elks
FARMINGTON — Dance to the music of Roy Hudson from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Farmington Elks Lodge 2430, 120 School St., West Farmington. Doors open at 7.

Senior Planning Center open house
FARMINGTON — The Senior Planning Center will hold a Community Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Mt. Blue Shopping Center.
Other senior and community-related organizations will be set up at the event including the Healthy Community Coalition doing free medical checks, Chief Peck from the Farmington Police Department explaining the Toddler TIKE program, Safe Voices, Community Dental, Sparkes Hearing Services and more.

Keep Me Warm Suppers return
FAYETTE — The Keep Me Warm Suppers are back. The first one will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Fayette Central School.
Menu will be baked beans, casseroles, salads, dessert, rolls and drinks. Cost is $6 adults, $3 children.

Flea market, craft fair in Phillips
PHILLIPS — Phillips First Saturday Flea Market and Craft Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Phillips Area Community Center on Depot Street.
New vendors are welcome. To reserve a large table for $10, call Pam at 639-2630.
Hot dogs, hot soup, drinks and snacks will be for sale on site. This is the last monthly event of the season.
There are lots of interesting bargains, crafts, antiques and collectibles; always something new.
The Scarecrow Reunion, History Walk and Ghost Train is also taking place in Phillips on Oct. 4.
‘North Woods Law’ showing at library
TURNER — A showing of a “North Woods Law” episode will take from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, on the green at the Turner Public Library, 98 Matthews Way.
Meet Maine Wardens MacCabe, Thibodeau and Chabot.
Children can explore the “Maine Safari-in-a-Box.”
Wear camouflage and hunter orange. Bring a blanket and lawn chair.
Cider, popcorn and hot dogs will be for sale.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside.
Book sale, breakfast, boutique in Wayne
WAYNE — Stop by the Williams House, 17 Old Winthrop Road, on Saturday, Oct. 4, anytime between 9 a.m. and noon for a morning break.
Coffee, tea, scones and quiche will be for sale to benefit the Williams House. Shop at the ongoing book sale and boutique. The library has just received 10 bins of book donations from local readers.
Come and visit with friends and neighbors. Bring your laptop; there is wi-fi.
Square and round dance on Oct. 5
WILTON — On Sunday, Oct. 5, the Wilton Friendship Squares will host a square and round dance from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cushing School.
The dance will be mainstream/mainstream plus. The caller will be Marty Vanwart. Carol Arsenault will be the cuer.
