PORTLAND — A Lewiston man was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to two years in prison and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II, Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Andrew Silva following an incident on Sept. 12, 2012, when Lewiston police were called to a domestic incident involving Silva.
After finding a .22-caliber bullet in Silva’s pocket, officers obtained a search warrant and found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in the living room closet of the apartment where Silva was arrested.
Due to a prior felony conviction for aggravated assault, Silva was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Silva pleaded guilty to the charges on May 21, 2014.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Lewiston Police Department.
