BETHEL — The Western Mountains Senior College is kicking off its second season of the Brown Bag Lunch Series from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Bethel Inn Resort, following a successful inaugural season in April.
College President Nancy Davis said that the Brown Bag Series was created in an effort to make the college “responsive to a new generation.”
Those interested in participating can bring their own lunch and will have the opportunity to discuss a selected topic at each Brown Bag meeting.
The first session of the second season will focus on a segment called, “The Resilient Community in the 21st Century: How can elders shape the legacy we leave our children and grandchildren?”
The session will be facilitated by Bonnie Pooley, Davis said.
“She’ll pose many questions for us to consider, such as ‘What are the values we cherish as we grow older?’” Davis said in a recent press release. “’Why have we chosen to live in a small rural town?’ ‘Why do so many young people leave Bethel, and what can we learn from this?’”
Davis added that anyone is welcome to participate in the discussion.
“You don’t have to be a member of the Western Mountains Senior College to take part,” Davis said.
Coffee and tea will be provided at the session.
Seating is limited, so RSVPs are advised by Friday, Sept. 26.
