BRUNSWICK — The Theater Project will present the theater artists of “And Still We Rise” at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

“And Still We Rise” is a vibrant and vital community of theater artists and social justice advocates. Now in its 10th season of performances and workshops, ASWR is led by men and women who have spent years in prison. Together with their family members and loved ones, they use the art of storytelling to create a crucible for healing, public awareness, and social change through empowering the voices of formerly incarcerated individuals.

Weaving their stories into an imaginative fabric built on true experience, the performers move audiences toward greater understanding and compassion for those whose lives have been directly impacted by the prison system.

ASWR will have two performances: first at The Theater Project at 2 p.m., and then at Bowdoin College’s Kresge Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. These two shows will be the company’s first appearances in Maine. This also represents one of the first times they’ve been seen in a theater setting since their inaugural season in 2005 when they staged a series of public performances and talk-back sessions at the Actors Workshop in South Boston.
