I have been listening to the range of Maine Republican candidates on the radio lately. I hear about trickle down, rein in spending, privatize Social Security, open carry, etc. — the same disproved theories and empty promises for 30 years.

Extremism seems to be the only place for a political party with no real solutions. Maine needs cooperation and common sense.

Bettyann Sheats, Democrat running for Auburn/Minot House District 64, has these skills. She has the maturity and the can-do spirit of a West Point graduate. She has the common sense of a mother and local business owner.

Local representation makes a difference in all our lives. I will be voting for Bettyann Sheats this year, voting for maturity and common sense.

Henk Goorhuis, Auburn
