Kudos to Kalle Oakes for his well-written and insightful column (Sept. 14) regarding “Football’s failures and society’s ills.” He hit it right on.

I thoroughly agree that we need to clean up our act as a nation. The athlete (no matter who he or she is) is not the only one to be held accountable, but every one of us is responsible for turning the problem around.
