FARMINGTON — With help from the public, Farmington police have identified a woman who is accused of taking a sweatshirt from the Farmington Wal-Mart in June. Now they seek information about her being in Farmington.
The woman has been identified as Jessica Harvey, 26, Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
There is currently a warrant out for her arrest for that theft and another matter in Mexico, she said.
Since asking for the public’s help to identify the woman in July, Farmington police have communicated with her by phone, but she doesn’t come to the department as she says she will, Pomeroy said.
She has told police that she is homeless but apparently has connections with both the Farmington and Rumford-Mexico areas.
Early in June, store security spotted Harvey leaving without paying for a pink Maine sweatshirt, valued at $21.80, Pomeroy said.
Security told her to stop, but she went over a parking lot guardrail into a swampy area, heading in the direction of Red Schoolhouse Road, she said.
After releasing the photo, several calls from the public came in, identifying the woman, she said.
Anyone with any information about Harvey being in the Farmington area is asked to call the Farmington Police Department at 778-6311.
