The San Francisco 49ers watched Joe Montana go to Kansas City. The Packers watched Brett Favre leave. Those two teams had built-in fixes — Steve Young and Aaron Rogers, respectively.

Enter Jimmy Garoppolo.

I know that it is tough to swallow, but Tom Brady’s act has gotten old. Due to lack of pass protection and his age, Brady may be gone as quickly as he came on the scene 13 years ago.

The Patriots may have only two trade options — Oakland and San Francisco (Brady’s home turf). Since the Raiders seem to be option “A,” perhaps New England could get a number one pick — potentially a top 10 selection — a rare opportunity for the “stand-Pats.”

I don’t think coach Bill Belichick is far behind, so I will leave that for another letter to the editor I’ll write after the upcoming 8-8 season.

Sorry, Pats fans. No playoffs this year.
