FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 will get eight new copiers under a new municipal lease-purchase agreement the board of directors approved Sept. 9 for $193,902.41.

The cost of the Xerox copiers is $113,091.08. The remaining $72,910.66 and another $7,900.67 is to pay off two other lease purchase agreements from 2012 with the same company, Gorham Savings Leasing Group.

District Business Manager Kris Pottle told the board that it is a five-year agreement and the payments break down to $41,589 a year, with the district saving $2,000 a year by doing it now. The savings are with the service contract on all the district’s copiers, she said.

The district has 37 copiers.

“We evaluate copiers with the highest volumes every three years and replace accordingly,” Pottle said Tuesday. “We enter into five-year lease agreements because the interest rate is more favorable than three-year financing.”

The fourth installment of the current lease is due this month so the district needed to act on this now or it would have to wait until the next budget year, she said.
