But senior striker Alli Boulier scored goals 2:09 apart to complete her hat trick and cement Bangor’s 4-1 triumph Saturday afternoon.

Boulier, whose corner kick tied it 1-1 in the first half, gave her team some valuable breathing room with 10:47 left off a Mary Butler pass. She then collected her fourth goal of the season with 8:38 remaining off an Eve George feed.

Tia Cote had scored for Oxford Hills (1-1-1) off an Abbey Nolan corner.

The 6-foot-1 Butler, who notched what proved to be the game-winner 1:09 after Boulier’s equalizer, created the third goal for 2-0-1 Bangor. She raced away from the pack before sending Boulier in alone on goalkeeper Samantha Bickford with a perfectly placed through-ball.

“One of their defenders stepped up on Mary and the other dropped back a little farther so I saw the (open) slot and made a run,” said Boulier. “Mary read it really early so I wasn’t offsides which was awesome. Then I saw the goalie coming out so I got a touch around her and put in the open net.”

Moments later, George muscled through a crowded penalty area before dispatching a precise pass to the unmarked Boulier on the left side.

“Eve did an awesome job. She battled real hard. I was hoping she would kick it out wide because they all collapsed on her and she did,” said Boulier, who drilled a powerful 13-yarder into the far corner.

Oxford Hills took a 1-0 lead with its first shot as Nolan’s corner kick sailed over the head of Bangor goalkeeper Emily Gilmore and pinballed around before sophomore striker Cote steered it home.

The lead lasted just 3:20 as Boulier sailed an inswinging left-footed corner kick into the upper far corner.

“Mary (Butler) was in there and we have a lot of pretty good attackers in there. I was trying to put it up high in the middle but it swung in,” said Boulier.

Butler converted a Megan Conner corner with a header just over a minute later giving Bangor four goals off corners among its 12 this season.

“We had a lot of bodies in there. It was a good serve and I took a step back and got my head on it,” said Butler, whose 12-yarder beat Bickford to the goalie’s right.

It was Butler’s fifth goal of the season.

“We hung with them in the first half. But we got a little worn down in the second half,” said Oxford Hills coach Chad Truman. “Bangor’s really physical and it takes a toll.”

He also praised Boulier, saying “she’s fantastic. We defended her well for most of the game, but good players like that eventually get their goals and she did.”

Truman said Paige Garcia did an exceptional job marking Butler.

Gilmore finished with one save on six shots while Bickford turned in an impressive 10-save outing while facing 31 shots. She took a shot in the face with 5:51 left and was replaced by Emily Blackshaw.

“They played better soccer than we did and their two strikers (Boulier and Butler) are really good. We weren’t able to defend them,” said standout Oxford Hills midfielder Mikayla Morin.

“It was a good win. We played well. The girls responded after falling behind,” said Bangor coach Joe Johnson.
