BETHEL — Telstar’s offense is still seeking answers.

One week after both touchdowns in a lopsided loss at Oak Hill came by way of special teams, the Rebels saw their struggles with the football continue Saturday in a 35-0 Class D West football loss to Boothbay.

“We did move the ball,” Telstar coach Tim O’Connor said. “We had opportunities to score a couple of times, but we made too many mistakes, turned the ball over.”

Playing their first game of the Campbell Conference regular season — Boothbay was scheduled to open with Sacopee Valley before the Hawks scaled back to a junior varsity schedule this summer — the Seahawks jumped out to a 22-0 halftime lead and cruised to the win.

“I think we’re continuing to improve,” O’Connor said. “Obviously we’re not quite there yet. We have Old Orchard Beach on Friday night, and that could be another tough one for us.”

Freeport 32, Gray-New Gloucester 14

FREEPORT — Gray-New Gloucester quarterback Carson Hodsdon rushed for one touchdown and threw another Saturday, but Freeport already had a 32-14 Class C West football win well in hand at Pownal Road Field.

Peter Lamagna scored three touchdowns for the Falcons (1-1).

Gray-New Gloucester (0-2) notched a first-half safety before chalking up its first offensive points of the season on a 1-yard sneak by Hodsdon in the third quarter.

Hodsdon hit Zack Haskell for a 41-yard score and cut it to 26-14 with seven minutes left. Tyler Julian closed it out ith a 23-yard TD rush for the Falcons.
