There has been an ongoing advertisement in the Sun Journal sponsored by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center that features a $5 coupon for the farmers market if a purchase is made with a SNAP card. There are also additional discounts for SNAP and WIC users if they spend more money.
I question that promotion, since it appears to discriminate against non-card holders who use cash. It doesn’t seem fair to those people who work but who are not eligible for “food stamps.” They are trying to survive and make ends meet.
