This is in response to the letter from Harry Higgins of Jay (Sept. 4), complaining because his taxes might go up.

Big deal. Jay residents have had too many freebies for too long — free garbage pickup (we have to pay in Livermore); all the work done on the Jay school to make more room — guess who paid?

The taxes for Livermore residents went up last year; Jay residents’ taxes went down. Does that make sense?

Livermore residents’ taxes went up again this year, so Higgins should stop complaining and pay his taxes.
