GRAY — The Gray Public Library will be closed until at least Tuesday, Sept. 16, due to a ruptured sprinkler head.

According to a news release from library staff, last Tuesday, during the course of maintenance, a sprinkler head erupted and spilled hundreds of gallons of water into the library.

The sprinkler head was located in the back staff area so there was minimal damage to library property, collections and resources. However, the water did damage some walls and much of the new carpeting.

The library will remain closed while new carpeting is installed and professionals can ensure a safe, well-operating library upon reopening.

Patrons who have materials that are currently checked out and which will become due during the closure will not be assessed extended use fees for these days.

For more information about reopening, check the library’s website at www.gray.lib.me.us or call the library at 207-657-4110.
