DIXFIELD — Regional School Unit 10 directors Monday considered some long-term goals, including shared beliefs and values, accountability, collaboration with staff and the community, and team development.

Superintendent Craig King said the goal-setting sessions, including those on Sept. 22 and Oct. 14, will help the district devise a plan for improving academic achievement.

King said the board will identify four or five goals in the next couple of months. The starting point came from a list of possible goals identified by the National School Board Association for establishing highly effective school boards.

The board is anticipating a report on the condition of each district building that could lead to possible restructuring or the closing of some buildings in the next couple of years.

Also on Monday, about a dozen new staff members were welcomed by board Chairman Bruce Ross. Several special education teaching positions remain open.
