Season outlook: With 18 of 22 starters returning, the Phoenix enter the season as the Class C West favorite. Theriault, Vigue and Ring are three-year starters and arguably the top players at their positions in the league. Ouellette missed much of the early season in 2013 but emerged as the leader of the defense. Four-fifths of the offensive line returns intact, including three-year mainstays York and Smith. Polky also expects the Darling brothers to have a major impact on what should be an explosive Phoenix offense. Cape Elizabeth, Wells and reigning champion Leavitt are the main threats, but this could be the team that ends Jay-Livermore’s 10-year football title drought.
