GREENE — The Baptist Church of Greene is pleased to announce the appointment of their new pastor, who was elected after a unanimous vote by church members on July 27.
The Rev. Joshua Burden will give his first sermon to the congregation in Greene on Sept. 7, at the morning worship service. A special Service of Installation will be held the same day at 2:30 p.m., followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments.
Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend and meet Pastor Josh and his family.
Burden is from Maine, and has also lived in Brazil, Texas and Minnesota. He graduated from Caribou High School before going on to attend Bethel University in Minnesota and Truett Seminary at Baylor University in Texas.
After returning to Maine, he served as the associate pastor of the Caribou United Baptist Church, then as pastor of the New Limerick and Oakfield Baptist Churches. He lives with his wife, Lindsay, and three children; Jacob, 11, Autumn, 10, and Emmaleine, 7.
Burden succeeds the Rev. Chester Garrison, who, along with his wife Barbara, retired in June 2012 after serving the Greene community for 10 years.
