1926 – 2014

AUGUSTA — Harvey B. Lesh Jr., 88, of Augusta and formerly of Harpswell, is “finally home” on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta. He was the loving husband of Polly (Heldenbrand) Lesh for 62 years.

Harvey was born in North Canton, Ohio, to the late Harvey Lesh Sr. and Estella (Hartong) Lesh. He graduated from North Canton High School, Class of 1944. Harvey graduated from the University of Wisconsin, where he was part of the U.S. Navy V12 program.

He was employed as an engineer in the aeronautical department for BF Goodrich for 30 years. Harvey was a member of Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, where he formerly served on mission committee and sang in the choir.

One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his “sweetheart” and his family. Harvey was a do-it-yourselfer, building two homes with his wife — one in Ohio and one in Maine — where he made his home for the past 29 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Leslie E. Auckland and husband, Paul, of Sellersville, Pa., and Alisa G. Irons and husband, Lloyd, of Harpswell; two sons, Todd S. Lesh and wife, Janie, of Charlotte, N.C., and Lane D. Lesh of Charlotte, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Richard Ramsey, of Loveland, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Joyce Lesh, of Burlington, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Ramsey; and a brother, Don Lesh.
