1931 – 2014
TOPSHAM — Marcel A. Nadeau, 82, of 63 Sherbrooke Ave., Lewiston, died Monday, Aug. 25, at The Highlands, where he resided for the past two and a half years.
Born in Lewiston a son of the late Donat and Claire Leriche Nadeau, he was educated in Auburn schools. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a master sergeant, and worked for the state of Maine for 20 years, prior to his retirement.
Marcel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church and was married to the former Margaret J. Cullinan, who died in 2006. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 150 and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the coast with his wife and the occasional trip to Atlantic City with his wife, family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, taking care of his home and chatting with the neighbors who always kept an eye on him.
Dad will be remembered for the time spent serving his country — which he loved and spoke about until his final days, the assistance he was always there to provide when needed and his dedication to his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Gregory M. Nadeau, of Lewiston; his son-in-law, Raymond Taylor, of Harpswell; his grandchildren, Raymond and Dylan Taylor and Ericka and Austin Nadeau; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Raymond Taylor V and Autumn Day; and two sisters, Germaine St. Pierre of Lewiston and Sister Pauline Nadeau of Canada.
He was also predeceased by his daughter, Karin Taylor; and brothers, Raymond, Bertrand, Paul and Donald Nadeau.
The family wishes to thank family and friends for visiting him during his time in Topsham, and to the staff of CHANS Home Health Care and The Highlands for the special and much appreciated care given to him in his final days.
