GARDINER (AP) — A man suspected of robbing a Gardiner pharmacy of prescription medications has been captured after an hours-long manhunt in the woods.
Jesse Mansir, of Gardiner, was captured at about 7 p.m. Thursday with the help of dog teams about nine hours after someone robbed the Rite-Aid pharmacy in town.
Police Chief James Toman says the pharmacy was held up at 10:35 a.m. by a man who passed an employee a note demanding prescription drugs and saying he had a gun. No weapon was shown.
After the robber was given an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs, he fled on foot.
The 31-year-old Mansir was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
