TAM has provided literature-based education programs in schools and community centers since the Theater’s founding. Education Tours make adaptations of classic literature accessible to a geographically and economically diverse audience. Since 2005, TAM has taken the Bard on the road through Shakespeare in Maine Communities’ tours in 60 to 90-minute versions of Shakespeare with five to eight actors. Plays are fully designed, rehearsed, and tour to schools and community centers. The target grade levels are middle and high schools. This year’s tour is made possible in part by a Shakespeare in American Communities grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.

In Shakespeare’s savage world of ghosts, witches, and bloody battlefields, a dark prophecy leads a warrior and his wife past the point of no return. From its mesmerizing first moments to the last fulfillment of the witches’ curse, this relentless tragedy unearths the terrifying consequences of blind ambition.

Plunging us into a nightmare world of eternal darkness and terror, the rise and fall of Macbeth remains the definitive study of descent into evil.
