POLAND SPRING — In keeping with its commitment to invest in Maine people, Poland Spring Water Company recently awarded 23 Good Science Scholarships to Maine high school seniors who are pursuing post-secondary education in science, engineering or the environment. Each scholarship of $1,000 is meant to support the students as they continue on to the next stage of their academic career.

Scholarships were given to four members of Poland Regional’s Class of 2014, Coady Lagasse, Poland; Shawn Mitchell, Minot; Rebecca Meservier, Poland; Matt Rabasco, Poland, and four members of Gray-New Gloucester’s Class of 2014, Jaime Boulos, New Gloucester; Alexandra Stash; New Gloucester; Ben Coleman, Gray; Tyler Credit, New Gloucester.

“Congratulations to each recipient of this year’s Good Science Scholarship. Poland Spring is proud to invest in Maine’s next generation of leaders in the fields of science, engineering and the environment,” said Chris McKenna, Poland Spring Factory Manager.

Respect and responsibility for the environment is at the core of Poland Spring’s business and a value the company works to pass on to the next generation of Maine stewards. To that end, in 2007 Poland Spring established the Good Science Scholarship program and has since awarded more than $140,000 to Maine high school seniors.

In addition to the scholarships, the Poland Regional and Gray-New Gloucester High School scholarship winners, their families and faculty from the schools were invited to attend a tour of the Poland Spring bottling factory in Poland and a celebratory dinner and awards presentation at the historic Poland Spring Museum on June 5.
